In Galapagos, it is possible to camp in places designated for this activity. For this, it is necessary to obtain a Camp Authorization through the Directorate of the Galapagos National Park.
To obtain a camp authorization at authorized visiting sites, applicants must complete and submit the format and application form, indicated below, at least two and no later than fifteen days prior to the start of the camp. Once the application has been submitted, the GNPS will review the availability and favorable conditions of the site. It will inform the applicant of the feasibility so that he may proceed to cancel the amount of $10 (ten United States dollars), per person in the case of nationals and foreigners, and the corresponding authorization will be issued immediately, for which he must present a copy of the identification card or passport for validation of the procedure.
The sites allowed for this activity are as follows:
In Santa Cruz: Playa Garrapatero*.
In San Cristobal: Puerto Chino, Manglecito and Puerto Grande.
In Isabela: Volcán Chico (El Cura sector) and Minas de Azufre.
Note: *The Garrapatero visit site has special conditions so the presence of aguaje will prevent the issuance of permits.
